Each of these control loops is designed to keep some important process variable such as pressure, flow, level, temperature, etc. within a required operating range to ensure the quality of the end product..

Valves are a critical element of a control system in industrial process animation—designed to sustain high pressure and temperatures, to open and close quickly to control flow, to provide strength against erosion and corrosion or to be sterile to meet strict documentation requirements. The most common final control element in the process control industries is the control valve. The control valve manipulates a flowing fluid, such as gas, steam, water, or chemical compounds, to compensate for the load disturbance and keep the regulated process variable as close as possible to the desired set point.

Control valves play a critical role in the Power and Process industries, as they serve as the final control element in the process control scheme. Control valves directly control flow and depending on the control loop, indirectly control pressure, temperature, and other process variables.

The primary function of a safety valve is to protect property and life. Because a safety valve is often the last device to prevent catastrophic failure under pressure conditions, it is important that the valve works at all times i.e. it must be 100% reliable.

Safety valves should be installed wherever the maximum allowable working pressure of a system or pressure containing vessel is likely to be exceeded. Pressure excess can be generated in a number of different ways including:

  Failure of a cooling system allowing vapour or fluid to expand.

  Compressed air or electrical power failure to control instrumentation

  Plant fires

  During the start-up conditions of a plant

The term “Safety Valve” and “Relief Valve” are generic terms to describe a variety of pressure relief devices. A wide range is available based on the application and required performance criteria. The different designs are required to meet numerous national standards.

Series W Pneumatically Spring & Diaphragm Actuators

Designed to satisfy the majority of general control valve applications, the Series W Pneumatically Operated Spring & Diaphragm Actuator is especially suited to areas of high fire risk.

With proven reliability, even in the most adverse climate conditions and temperatures, the range comprises three basic actuator sizes which, when combined with different spring ranges, provide a travel capability of up to 3½ (89mm). The spring air fail action delivers crucial reliability for critical applications and a pre-compressed bench set is available across the range of fitted springs.

Series P Linear Spring Cylinder Actuator

Designed for fitting onto a wide range of control valves, louvres or dampers, these high power actuating units are for use in on/off, or modulating service. Their thrust capacity is much greater than similar size diaphragm spring actuators thanks to air pressures as high as 150psig (10bar) being used.

They operate either as a single, or double-acting unit and a range of springs is available to provide positive air fail action, which is field reversible. Positioners are normally yoke mounted and of the double-acting type providing air to both sides of the piston and giving a robust and precise unit that is resistant to load fluctuations and transients.

Series 8000 Butterfly Valves

Designed to provide cost effective, reliable control valves for use in low-pressure applications, the high performance Series 8000 valves feature a stainless steel disc with either a soft, or stainless steel seal ring. The soft seal option provides excellent sealing capabilities in both directions. HIPPS (High Integrity Pressure Protection System)

The Severn Glocon Group is able to offer integrated High Integrity Pressure Protection Systems (HIPPS) for oil and gas installations. Control Valves


Engineered to meet a wide range of applications and service conditions, KOSO Kent Introl’s control valve range includes the following products:

Surface Choke Valves:


KOSO Kent Introl’s technically advanced Series 73 range of choke valves has been effectively used in the Oil & Gas industry since 1975. The range offers a wide choice of different materials and trim options making it flexible to meet the needs of even very specific and challenging projects. All Series 73 choke valves use a low-pressure recovery, high friction trim design. This protects the vital pressure-containing boundaries of the valve against damage from erosion and cavitation. Dependent on the needs of your project, the Series 73 range can work with single or multi-stage trims and the proven KOSO VeCTor™ velocity control labyrinth disk stack design.

  Choke body materials can be of forged, Hot Isostatic Pressing (HIPped) or cast construction.

KOSO Kent Introl have developed a range of advanced, high-quality severe service valve solutions for every type of problematic application, from high-pressure, high-temperature environments to sub-zero temperatures. Their valves are designed to combat the effects of cavitation, flashing, erosion, contaminated fluids, corrosion, high velocity, vibration, noise and energy dissipation.

In addition to this, KOSO Kent Introl has the proven KOSO VeCTor™ velocity control labyrinth disk stack design in it's product portfolio. The VeCTor™ trim gives you the option to source a high-performance trim for the control of extremely high velocity conditions that would potentially damage the control valve and downstream pipework if the velocity is not managed appropriately.

C-SERIES Customizable isolation valves for specific applications

The C-Series valve is the best choice in large bore isolation applications. MOGAS engineers have successfully designed the C-Series valve line which isolates under the extreme conditions – high temperature up to 1652°F (900°C), high pressures up to 43,000 psig (2965 bar g), media build-up, cycling with solids in the line and erosive attack of materials and coatings. With more than 40 years of engineering expertise, each C-Series valve is designed specifically for the application.

GEN-X Cold Reheat Drain Valves

MOGAS Gen-X metal-seated severe service ball valves are engineered in accordance with ASME TDP-1 2013. The Gen-X valves are built and tested for the prevention of water damage to your steam turbines. The cold reheat drain, hot reheat drain and main steam drain Gen-X valves meet and/or exceed TDP bore and reliability requirements.

Dual metal alloy upstream and downstream seats with chrome carbide up to HRC 69 hard coating prevent downstream sealing damage from flashing, especially in carbon steel cold reheat lines. MOGAS Gen-X valves are offered for both automated on/off and manual on/off valve applications throughout today’s power plant.

PORV Power Operated Relief Valves

The MOGAS PORV, a pneumatic actuated pressure relieving valve, prevents excessive system pressure accumulation. The set pressure of the PORV is lower than that of the spring-loaded safety valve to prevent or reduce the number of lifts of the safety valve, thus extending their life. The PORV is available either non-stamped or with the “V” stamp. The “V” stamped PORV has been flow certified by the National Board of Boiler and Pressure Vessel Inspectors.

SC-3PC Inline Repairable Valves

The SC-3PC has a three-piece body assembly with two proprietary body seals that allow the valve body to be easily removed while the end connections remain in line. The design also allows the valve body to be tested after repair, prior to insertion back in-line. The SC-3PC is used in power plants for isolation of high pressure / high temperature applications.

FlexStream® control technology.

The internal control elements (or trim) use flow paths of various configurations to control flow and pressure drop. This compact trim configuration, located downstream of the seat, consists of a diffusion element and a control element.

1. The diffusion element splits and aligns the flow through an arrangement of straight paths.

2. The control element reduces the flow velocity through an arrangement of tortuous flow paths and open area.

The variable characterization of the control element allows precise pressure letdown and superior velocity control tailored to specific process conditions.

In addition, Q-Rohr® is unrivaled in terms of running costs. Eliminating vent ducts saves you money not only on installation but also on servicing and maintenance.


The Q-Rohr® is ideal for indoor plants that are at risk of dust and gas explosions. Many new plants are equipped directly with the Q-Rohr® as it offers a wide range of flexible installation options. Retrofitting is also simplicity itself. The Q-Rohr® can be used to protect filters, dryers, cyclones and can be used with gases, hybrid mixtures, metal dusts, melting dusts or fibres. Optional sanitary cover prevents accumulation / contamination of the Q-Rohr® flame trap mesh in dusty areas.


KUB® most rugged rupture disc currently available!

KUB® is not only extremely easy to install – it is also simple to remove and reinstall. In addition to a standard operating pressure ratio of up to 98%*, the design is robust enough to cope with incorrect handling before and during installation. The IG holder also helps in this regard. The rupture disc and holder are designed to ensure that it is impossible to insert the rupture disc incorrectly. KUB® does not use bite-type seals. Instead it uses a leak-tight, metal-on-metal seal, which allows the rupture disc to be reinstalled after inspection.

  Longer service life of the rupture disc reduces the costs associated with production downtime, maintenance and replacement discs.

Using Leonard Euler’s formula, we developed a unique cut profile – known as buckling pins – for the KUB’s rupture element. Careful selection of the buckling pin geometry and arrangement in combination with the material of the rupture disc offer accurate control of the response pressure of KUB®. Moreover, the rupture disc is so rugged that even touching the dome of the membrane or dropping it accidentally from waist height will not affect its performance.

KUB® is the ideal solution for a wide range of challenging industrial processes with low to high operating pressures or vacuum, e.g. in liquid, gas or vapour applications as well as in two-phase flow applications. Its broad pressure spectrum allows you to equip many different processes seamlessly with just this one type of rupture disc – a major advantage: only one disc holder system is required. If the process conditions change (e.g. a different operating pressure), you can simply replace the rupture disc and continue to use the same holder. That saves money!

Add-on module for explosion vents to reduce the size of endangered areas

In the case of an explosion outside a building, explosion vents open and release the explosion flame and pressure wave into the environment. Adequate safety areas are crucial. They must be kept free of buildings and be out of bounds to both vehicles and pedestrians. These empty areas cannot be used commercially but still incur operating costs. TARGO-VENT limits the opening angle of an explosion vent in order to protect people, vehicles or subsequently erected buildings. By decreasing the size of endangered areas, TARGO-VENT helps you to reduce your safety areas to a minimum and increase usable operating space while providing optimum protection against explosions.

The E range of actuators is suitable for on-off (isolating) or continuous (modulating) duty and can readily interface with a computer, programmable logic controller or conventional electrical control gear. Actuators can be made to respond to either analogue or digital control signals and can be supplied with solid state adjustable set points to correspond to desired positions of travel, mechanical limit switches, transducers, potentiometers, starters, position controllers and continuous position indication.

The versatility of hydraulics enables simple adjustment of speed and thrust/torque whilst various valve combinations enable the piston rod/output rod to be either locked or unlocked when at rest. Manual operation can be provided via a handpump whilst emergency power operation utilising either disc springs or accumulators can be incorporated as required.


The Advanced Actuators range of Stepping Actuators are based on widely used mechanical principles, which we have refined and improved upon to give a reliable, cost effective product available with hydraulic controls.

Generally the actuator is coupled into a hydraulic ring main provided by others. Via a series of hydraulic controls and two directional solenoid valves oil is fed into one of two cylinders, which act upon a mechanical ratchet/gear wheel. The rotation of the gear wheel is selected by giving an electrical pulse to one of the two solenoid valves. Linear motion is achieved via a drive nut, which is connected to the gear wheel.


The mechanical drive mechanism can be supplied complete with drive nut threaded drive shaft, valve actuator mounting bracket and stem connector to fit directly to your valve.
